Your part in a book about them
What you are being asked
Someone is making a book about one person, and asking the people in their life to add to it. You can write something, say it in your own voice, or add photos, in any mix. If you have a photo, please add it. If you don’t, a few lines about them, or one thing you remember, is enough.
You do not need to sum them up. One memory is enough.
What it takes
One link, opened on whatever you are already holding. No account, no password, nothing to install. A few minutes is plenty, and if you leave an email address, you can reply to the confirmation we send to have anything changed or taken out.
On some links you’ll see “How did you know them?” at the top. It only helps us suggest a question to start you off, and you can skip it. Nobody has to justify their place in someone’s life in order to say something about them.
If the link will not open at work
Some workplaces block sites they have not seen before, and uploads more often than pages. If that happens, open the same link on your phone. Failing that, the person making the book can add it for you.
What your email address is used for
You don’t have to give one. If you do, we send you one email: a confirmation of what you sent, with a link to see it. Replying to it is how you ask for anything to be changed or taken out.
It is never shown on the board, it is not passed to the person making the book, and we do not use it for marketing or sell it.
Who sees what you write
That depends on the book, and the person making it has already decided.
The link itself tells you. If it opens onto a board of other people’s messages and photos, what you send can appear there too, with your name beside it. If it opens straight onto a page for writing, only the person making the book reads what arrives.
A leaving book is always the first kind, so colleagues can see what others have said and which photos are already there. The invitation asks everyone to keep it from the person leaving.
Your email address is never shown, and nobody is shown who has not written. The boards are kept out of search engines. Everything you send can go into the printed book. The person making it sees every page, and nothing is printed until they approve the book.
